A letter of resignation is a formal document informing an employer that an employee will leave their position. If you’re tired of your current job or perhaps, you got a better offer, the next thing you should do is to write a resignation letter to your former employer. Here are the perfect samples.

Template for a Resignation Letter

This template shows the format of an employee’s resignation letter. Note how the employee starts the letter on a soft note. 

Suggested Subject: Formal Resignation Letter – [Your Name]

Dear (Boss’s name), 

Kindly accept this as my official resignation from (your job title) with (name of company). My last workday will be (final work day), which is exactly two weeks from today. 

I am grateful for all the support and encouragement during my time here. I appreciate all the experiences I gained here, they are invaluable to me. It has been an honor and a pleasure working with you, the team and the company.
